pockets keep my hands warm

I've always been a bit jealous of fashion bloggers who can say their wearing their parent's old clothes. One often says it with the air of "oh, this old thing", but you know you love it. It's like the joy of vintage clothing, but with added sentimental value.

Well for once, I can say it too! See that skirt? My mum's, from around 20 years ago. I digged it up during my last visit home at the beginning of the year. I had to wait until the days got a bit cooler to wear it because it's pretty thick and long. I had thought of having it cut shorter, but it felt wrong to mess with it. Besides, I've grown to like how "swooshy" the long skirt is - kinda feels like being a ballroom dancer!
The chilly weather also means I had to wear a jacket, and my cropped jacket seemed to be the only thing that matched the outfit because it doesn't cover the skirt's waistline. Anything else made me look too frumpy for my liking.

skirt - Mum's (label says St. Michael)
dress worn as top - Indonesia
jacket - either Bardot or Miss Shop (label's been torn off)

The length of the jacket is just perfect with the skirt and I love the varied shades of green too!

The skirt is really nice and it makes you look like you´re somehow in a fairy tale of some sort. The jacket goes great with it. And choosing a close fitting top was a really good move, to contrast with the skirt.

I love this outfit! Especially the jacket :)

Oh I really like it with the jacket! And I know what you mean, it always feels wrong to 'mess' with vintage or simply older clothing... kind of like it has gotten this far in life so it's just not right to change it now! =].

You look just lovely!

Ooh I love the different shades of green worn together, very pretty. Skirts are more fun when they're swooshy too!

The shades of green in your outfit are lovely. I'm right with you on the sentimental value of vintage clothing that belonged to a loved one. They're so much more special. Your mum's skirt is perfect -- the right length, the nicest shade of green! Praises all around as your cropped jacket and hair ribbon take this already pretty outfit to new heights :)

Oh, the proverb in my latest post is an Indian proverb. I was feeling p.c. last night and couldn't find out if by "Indian" the source meant India "Indian" or Native American "Indian", so I just eliminated any confusion by simply noting it as "proverb" ;)

How sweet!!! When I was in high school I wore a lot of my parents' old t-shirts from the 70s, until my mom mentioned that I might be wearing them out - after that I decided to just store them in the closet for historical value. :)

Wow, great skirt!! I love that you described it as a ballroom dancer. That makes it even lovelier.

that looks so nice on you. I really like long skirts with a high waistline like that.

The skirt is bautiful, and fits you very very well! I can't wear anything from my mom or grandmother, because they were a lot slimer than me. Lucky you! *

Haha...I totally know what you mean. I'm all like how in the world did you get all this cool vintage stuff and where can I get it? And then when I find out it was from their mom or something, I always wish my mom had something cool like an old chanel bag or scarf or was more of a stylista. Oh well...

Micaela

Looks so pretty. I'm also jealous of those bloggers--my mother didn't save anything (she still doesn't).

I think I indulged too much on food too!
Oh well...
What can you do?

The first picture is so lovely! I adore the bow in your hair. This color combination is nice, too. I wish my mum had more nice old stuff to steal. Most of her stuff is new and cheap.
