fotorama

We found my parent's old Fuji "Fotorama" instant camera the other day - which is pretty much like a Polaroid. After testing it with some fresh baterees, lo and behold - it works! It even had plenty of film still in it - but that's when the excitement ends, because it must've expired so long ago (circa '90s) that nothing came out on the film. The blank film formats are still pretty cool though (if anything, the colours match my dress!), I thought I'd draw/scribble something on them. Any ideas?
Apparently they're still producing these film in Japan, but they're quite pricey. Do let me know if you know where I can get it cheap or if you have any information on it.

We also found a couple of other vintage cameras (one of which belonged to my grandfather, and is all in Russian) , and took them to a camera repair place to have them checked. I'm picking them up tomorrow - can't wait! Hopefully they're in good enough shape, so that I can play with them.

not related to cameras, but my mum picks jasmines every morning from our front garden - and they look and smell so pretty!

The camera looks great too bad for the film, I hope you'll find some.. Drawing on the blank film is a good idea, I would draw some typical flowers from Indonesia !
You are so lucky to have jasmine in your garden, the perfume is divine.. Oh and the dress is gorgeous :)

I found the film on the Fuji japan site. It's available to order, 2100 yen for a pack or 5985 yen for 3 packs. Therefore you are right, it's quite pricey :(

i really like how this person used acrylic paint and it seems as if they transferred their own drawings onto the polaroids? also, metallic markers on polaroids are always fun.

I love jasmines!
You could write some quotes you love, and then glue them in a notebook, or put them on the wall or something :)

Oh Anna, I love your dress. Gorgeous pattern and colors :)

What a fun find! Too bad about the film being expired, though. I do like how you've photographed the jasmine blossoms on the blank film formats. It makes for such a lovely image.

Such a cute dress Anna! I love the way you cinch it in with a belt - very chic! That camera looks like you'll have lots of fun with it - and as for jasmine - Sydney is full of it at the moment - so I can understand why your Mum loves it soo - ah! The scent is heaven!

Absolutely love those photos as much for the background elements as your gorgeous dress. Those polished tile floors and the dark, teak(?) furniture transport me back...I can smell the jasmine mixed with the scent of kretek cigarettes and feel the humidity. I for one would love to see more photos from your life there if you have the time and inclination.

Oh, pity about the film. Fingers crossed that the cameras you're picking up tomorrow are in top condition!

Also, love your dress. Is it batik?

I'd be so giddy if I found a camera like that lying around! Too bad the film has expired, though, but at least they look pretty awesome.

That dress is amazing - such pretty print. I can't wait to see what you create with the film.

I love the print on your dress! Very nice. Shame about the film, but I'm sure you'll be able to turn it into some pretty artwork, etc!

Batik and jasmine... You truly are in Java. Jadi pengen nge-teh...teh melati mmmh..

And what a treasure your parents have, it must cost a fortune now to buy the film.
