While I was looking through the files in my old laptop, I came across all sorts of stuff like photos and chat transcripts from my university days. The kind of things that bring back a rush of memories, mostly with friends (and crushes!) who I hardly see anymore. Makes me wonder how much we have shifted from storing memories in the form of sentimental letters and photographs kept in old shoe boxes under the bed, to having them stored digitally on the computer. Sure, we still like to keep "real" items, but that doesn't mean that we don't laugh and cringe just as much when we look at the digital files. Perhaps in the future, when our grandchildren learn about us, instead of discovering a stack of vintage letters and diaries, they'll discover a folder of saved emails and blog entries.
P.S. You may notice that I'm now offering an ad space on my side bar. I'm trying it out through Project Wonderful, so if you're interested, you can have your ad here by paying a mere cent or two. Cheap!
41 little notes:
woww.. i love the balloon pictures so much :)
so sweet..
xx
The pictures are so sweet. There are loads of pictures i wish i still had off broken computers, holidays and birthdays with friends :(
I love the second pic. I've given you an award on my blog.
Oh they are charming!!! Really lovely!! Where did you live in Melbourne when you took these?? I love that big chimney stack in the background too - *sigh*!
it is beautiful !!!!
Beautiful pictures !
hot air ballons are simple magical aren't they?
Those are beautiful, Anna.
Also, it's so funny that you mention memories of old friends and the digital age. I was, just before reading your post, thinking about my old online friends from 8-10 (!) years ago and wondering what would have happened to them. I had heaps of friends all over the world that I kept in touch with daily or at least weekly, and some I got to know really well! Ah, I don't know. Just feeling nostalgic, I guess :)
wow fantastic photos xoxox
Lovely pictures. And love the photo processing as well. As much as I love my computer, I wish I could store all my old memories in pretty shoe boxes under my bed - the thought of it is just so much more romantic.
xx
Love these photographs...the tone & texture! Love sepia brown!!
xo*
Those photo's are lovely! Well done.
I agree that technology has replaced the old shoe box memories. I've started printing old pictures and e-mails from my computer to put into my scrapbook. It's sad, I never get my pictures developed anymore. With digital cameras, I just upload and share with all my friends on facebook.
I love the pictures!
I can see why this view made you smile each morning! Thank you for sharing it :)
i love reading old chat logs for nostagia. great photos - love what you did on photoshop with them!
These are so beautiful, you did a great job on the pictures:)
Lovely photographs Anna, I'm not sure what you did with photoshop, but it has such an amazing vintage quality to them!
Also, the ad thing looks interesting... I'm off to investigate now! :)
Hope you're having a wonderful Friday.
Wow there are heaps just floating around - I love the second photo especially!
i know what you mean about laptops being memory places now. i have loads of old photos on my old computer from when i was in school and digital cameras first came out and i used to take loads of photos in school!
beautiful work, anna!
and yes, laptops are great, but nothing can beat a shoebox full of treasures.
hey, thank you for your super nice comment about Ernest Gulbis! I looove tennis as much as you do, right now, all nights of US open! :) (unfortunately to watch those games live, i have to do it at night :( but i try! :D...)
and about your post - these pictures look really cool after you photoshoped them, and i must agree that most of the recent memories are saved in our laptops, which is kind of sad, but on the other hand very practically! :D
xoxo, Nath
These pictures are awesome! I love the balloon shapes silhouetted in the sky. :)
You're right about digital memories; they're just as tangible!
These pics are so beautiful, thanks for sharing. I'm starting to like hot air balloons after reading your blog.

What a lovely blog you have! I adore your balloon images...you are so right about the laptops are the new shoe boxes! I have never really thought about it that way! I am off to visit your lovely etsy store..some of the pieces have caught my eye!
Just me again...just wanted to let you know it was me who just bought your lovely black and white necklace...sometimes it is nice for the sellers to see who their pieces are being sent to! It is so lovely and can't wait for it to arrive!
LOL Love your title.
oh my, beautiful images.
O but Anna, I still have boxes and boxes of my old sentimental things in storage as well as tons of gigs of virtual memories. These photos are amazing. You did so well with the processing. It looks like Paris but without the Eiffel Tower.
I just spent the last hour reading your blog. I am in love. These pictures are fantastic - I have a thing for images of balloons. Makes me want to fly away.
I have added you to my blog roll!!!!!
