shooting with film

I finally got the film from my old camera and had it developed! Wanna see the photos?! *becomes like a little kid showing off her new toy*

Below is the first photo I took. These geese are at my parent's back garden. Not great, kinda blurry, but if you look closely at the goose at the back, you can see the blur of it's flapping wings - which I really like! It started flapping just as I clicked the shutter.

I like how shooting with film makes me carefully think about each shot, as there's no easy preview and delete option like there is with digital. I enjoy taking the time to get the subject, focus and framing just right. I still make mistakes, but that's the whole point, isn't it? And I'm loving the anticipation and thrill when it does turn out right. I always crop and edit my photos that go in this blog, but I'm not doing any of that in this post. So it's kind of "raw", I guess. I really didn't want to mess with any of the framing or colours here, so you get a better idea of the photo results. I just resized them to fit the page.

All the following photos were taken in and around Melbourne.

I agree with you about enjoying the time and thought that goes into taking photos with film. Even though I just dabble with it, film is one of my favorite mediums. No matter how well you do your part, I love its unpredictability.

I'm so happy to see your photos, Anna! They're all lovely. I agree with Elena-Lu, you have a great eye for composition. And seriously, how cool is it that the goose started flapping its wings just as you clicked the shutter?! I love it :)

The flapping wings look so amazing! I love taking pictures with film, too. Definitely a completely different experience. I was working with a 4x5 view camera last week and it took me literally an hour to compose each image. That plus film loading time, film developing time and print developing time definitely makes you think a lot more critically about what you're doing.
