taking out the polaroid

batik dress: gift from mum (Indonesia)

I just used up the last Polaroid film in my camera (above). I still have one final film pack that I have yet to open. Despite the news that Polaroid films are coming back, I'm still so careful with each shot I take. It's ironic that years ago Polaroid was meant to be all about taking quick and spontaneous photos, yet these days each shot seems so precious that I can't press the button before putting in a lot of time and thought into it.

random random

First of all, thank you to everyone who responded to my last post! I really enjoy reading everyone's answers. It looks like there's a widely shared love of blogging :) Sorry if I'm slow to visit your blogs these days (slow internet, typical story), but bear with me! Also, another huge thanks to all my new followers. It's creeping closer and closer to the 400 mark.

Not a very well planned post today, just thought I'd share some random images from my day so far.

started the day with a scrumptious big breakfast of french toast and strawberries.

went to see Sherlock Holmes - which I really enjoyed! Not being a fan of action movies, that's saying something.

walked through a laneway and found Rolf Harris. My brother and I used to watch Rolf Harris's Cartoon Time when we were little and living in England. Random fact: just found out I share the same birthday as him (Rolf Harris that is, not my brother)!

walking home, and noticing my shoes match the fallen leaves.

mmm... Kit Kat ice cream ....

Having trouble to come up with a list myself, I want to hear from you! Also, I thought this would be a nice way for me to get to know my readers a little better too. So tell me, what is...
one thing that you loved in 2009? __________
one thing you're loving this very moment? __________
one thing that you'd love to do next year? __________

Feel free to answer in the comments or post your answers on your own blog (let me know if you do, so I can visit!). Looking forward to reading your responses!

special offer from Revolving Styles

top: Secretary Dress, bottom: Peggy Olson Dress

Meet my blog's latest sponsor, Revolving Styles. Anna (yes, another Anna! hehe..) runs this lovely Etsy shop, which is filled with wonderful vintage finds. I'm having a major crush on the Siren Red Lace Skirt and the Peggy Olson Dress. You can tell how much I love the colour red, huh? Add some lace or a peter pan collar, and I'm in love.

Right now, she is having a Buy One, Get One for 50% off on items in the sale section. This sale ends on the 28th, but I'm happy to announce that -especially for Much Love followers- this offer is extended until January 1st. Yay!
Also, Anna is kindly offering 10% off of anything that's not in the sale section if you mention this blog. Double yay!
Happy shopping.

come into the light

Lessons learnt from the above shot: (1) There's no point in taking off your glasses if you're going to crop half your head off. (2) There's no point in taking outdoor shots if you don't step out of the shade. (3) Photoshop can do wonders. That photo was reeaally dark before.

I finally got around to shortening this dress. I used one of those iron-on tapes instead of my poor sewing skills for once, and the result is much neater - although not as strong, it will do for now. It just occurred to me that the red and green makes it look rather festive and season-appropriate.

P.S. Cassie from Moon Face recently asked me what my new years resolutions are. See my answers at her blog.

luna park

I took these photos with my SuperHeadz film camera on Sunday at Luna Park. I had thought of waiting until Film Photography Friday to post these, but well, I decided I don't like waiting. I just got a whole roll of film developed, so I'll be sure to post some other new photos on Friday instead :)

(ah yes, I love sun flares and ferris wheels)
Old amusement parks have got to be one of the best places to find good photo subjects. I would've liked to have taken more, but I was close to the end of my film roll on that day. I'm still trying to get the hang of this camera. The framing always ends up wider than what I see in the viewfinder, which is something I should have noticed earlier on.
I also stumbled on this video of the opening of Luna Park in 1912. It looks so charming, I just had to share:

film photography friday

I love the simplicity and the play of light and shadows in these photos. It inspires me to experiment even more with indoors photography.

P.S. Don't forget to enter the Blueberry Deluxe giveaway, which is ending soon!

language is no barrier

My local library had a sale today, and sure enough I treated myself to a stack of cheap books! Amongst the books I got was this Korean (?) one. Now, unfortunately I have no idea how to read Korean, but I had to get it ... simply because it was filled with the most wonderful pictures! Probably 80% of the book is either photos or illustrations, so I don't feel like I'm missing out on TOO much.

(I love the white doodles on the cover)

The only words I can read is "Live By Oneself" on the cover, and a web address: hongsiya.com - which seems to be the site of the girl who is featured in the book, and who did the illustrations. If there's anyone out there who can read Korean or knows anything about this book (seems like it's part of a series), do let me know!

Here are just a few of my favourite pages. There's quite a number of photos where she's doing something creative and artistic -things like painting, making a plush bunny or playing the ukulele; stuff that I wish I knew how to do too! That, and understanding Korean of course.
