fur





Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus is a 2006 movie starring Nicole Kidman as iconic photographer Diane Arbus, and a fictional take on her early photography inspiration. The movie itself was okay (hard to judge because the DVD I borrowed was scratched, so I had to skip some scenes. Grr...). To be honest - and at the risk of sounding shallow - I was more impressed by the costumes and setting. Images of Nicole looking elegant in those perfect '50s housewife dresses, were too good not to share. The beautiful vintage camera she carries around is like the cherry on top.

    These are gorgeous shots! The story didn't seem particularly arresting to me, but I do love these pics you posted - particularly that red dress!

    I thought I'd hate that film because I'm not a fan of nicole kidman or RDJr but I enjoyed it!

    You're right, its very visually beautiful! All the shots in that pool/bath were so pretty!x

    You know it's strange, it's not liek I hate Nicole Kidman, it's just that very few of her movies have appealed to me

    Oh Yes,, I remember watching that, or maybe more buying it because I thought it'd be amazing and then finding out it was quite weird. Nevertheless everything looks absolutely gorgeous, which made it absolutely worth watching.
    And I would kill for those dresses;)

    I can't believe I still HAVEN'T seen this movie! I think Nicole Kidman looks stunning! I think Diane Arbus is such an inspiration! Must watch this when I get back to San Francisco! Can't wait! I love antique cameras!

    These screenshots really, REALLY remind me of Erwin Olaf's Grief series! I think the dresses and the off-centre nature of the photo is a fair place to lay this comparison, but I love both so much, the photo with the red dress is amazing <3

    I did watched it once even twice, but yes, I'm more thrilled to the beautiful sets and picturesque moments than the story itself. The story is...well, even to my peculiar taste, it's... um...well, you know. Gross, confusing, and what's the point? (without sounding shallow, I hope, but I really do appreciate if someone can enlighten me of the movie's storyline )

    The costume looks wonderful. I also watch movies for their aesthetic value more than good acting or plot (Glorious 39, Cracks, most art house movies...) so don't worry about being shallow!

    Of course, Nicole Kidman is just class.

    I've never heard of this film, and it doesn't sound shallow at all, that you like the costumes and scenes more than the writing. There are lots of movies I feel the same about. And yes, I do have a few of those vintage cameras :)
