weekend watching

How's your weekend going, friends? Today I've been staying in away from the pouring rain, unwinding from a long and exhausting week with a DVD. Some time ago, I got Dedication on DVD even though I hadn't even heard of this film before (hey, it was on sale and I like Mandy Moore!). It's actually a pretty good romantic comedy, in an off-beat quirky kind of way - which is just the way I like my romcoms. Have you seen it? Check out the trailer if you haven't.

So here are some of my first Holga photos. Obviously this new camera and I are still getting to know each other, so there were more misses than there were hits. I experimented with almost everything though: the coloured soft surround filters, the split image filters, the coloured flash, and double exposures (which you know that I love!.. and I love that it's so easy to do on a Holga). I need to learn to slow down on the picture taking though, especially after coming to the realization that with the 120 film, there's less than half the number of exposures that I'm used to, so I pretty much finished my roll within just a couple of days. I'm looking forward to trying out the black and white film next (but will take my time!).

much love monday [holga photo!]

As promised: my first Holga photo on the blog! This photo was probably the most "normal" looking one out of the whole roll, because most of the other photos are a bit of a mess (I think I went crazy experimenting with the different lens filters, but I'll show them to you later on in the week). I used a red flash on this photo, which probably didn't do much but intensify the red hearts and added a hint of red on the tree branch where the string hangs on. I have to say I'm impressed by the sharp focus and depth of field (that's what it's called, right? hah, am such a newbie), which I would have expected from an SLR but not from a lomo (the newbie is learning!).

Oh, and the the heart garland is from Katrina of Pugly Pixel and Mr. Rabbit Sir.

shadow shot sunday [tiny tea set]

My thrift find of the week: a tiny tea set. Cuties! On another note, I seem to be using this tablecloth in my photos a lot lately. I need a new backdrop, I know.

Check out Hey Harriet to learn about, and play along in, Shadow Shot Sundays.

holgarama

It is no secret that I've wanted a Holga camera for a long time now, and you may remember a blog post last month where I asked you to click on a link so I could win the competition hosted by the site HolgaRama. Well guess what? I won!!!! Yes, I am now a proud owner of my very own Holga! So thank you so so so much to each and every one of you who clicked on that link last month! Not only did HolgaRama send me the camera, they sent a whole kit including batteries, film, and some cool lens/filter accessories too. They even included a pink Holga Micro-110 camera, which is the tiniest and cutest camera ever (pictured, top left). Thank you so much HolgaRama! You have made me an extremely happy girl.

Look out for my first Holga photos on the blog very soon. Yay!

hungry designs giveaway winner

Thank you to everyone who entered the Hungry Designs giveaway! I can now announce that the lucky winner, as chosen by random.org, is... #78: Andi Lia. Congratulations! I'll be in touch with you shortly.

Amanda from Hungry Designs has also been so wonderful and sent me one of her exquisite teal typewriter brooches for myself! It's even more beautiful in person, and it was so nicely packaged too (don't you just love it when things in the mail come in pretty packages?!). I'm absolutely in love with it. Thank you so much Amanda!

If you haven't already, you really need to check out Amanda's amazing designs in her Etsy shop.

much love monday

Camera: wide lens SuperHeadz. Film: Fujifilm Fujicolor Superia 200.

I love that....  I got a job! Just got the offer, and will be starting in a matter of days. It's been a very loooong job hunting process, so I'm thrilled (and okay, a little terrified) at the thought of starting this new job.
Don't worry, this won't mean I'll cease blogging! I've already planned a bunch of blog posts in advance, including more Much Love Mondays. I expect my blogging routine will have to adjust, but it certainly won't stop.

2011 diaries

A tad early perhaps, but I've been wanting to get a really nice diary/planner for 2011. Some twitter friends recommended Kikki K, and after checking out their selection in the Kikki K website and in store today, I'm definitely lusting over their diaries! The only problem is: which one!?? Right now I'm leaning towards the "cute" one (really, that's what they call this range, I'm not trying to be descriptive) - which is the first photo in this post- because it comes with fun stickers (!) and an address book.

Can anyone recommend any other stylish 2011 diaries? I'm thinking about the Frankie one too. I've been looking around Etsy a bit but haven't found much, which may be a good thing because I'd probably have a hard time deciding which one to buy anyway.
