Artwork by Valerie Chua
It's always exciting when I unexpectedly stumble upon amazing talent, which is what happened when I found myself at the blog Quiet Girl, and discovered these lovely Japanese-style illustrations by Valerie Chua. Pretty pretty!

seeing double
Camera: wide lens SuperHeadz. Film: Kodak Colorplus 200.
My first attempts at intentional double exposures (remember the accidental ones?). Particularly happy with the first photo, where the sun somehow fits right into the building's entrance and the flares burst out. It's a hit and miss, but I definitely want to experiment with double exposures even more.

get up and go

Photography by Moriah Freed.
I've been having one of those restless feelings of wanting to go away somewhere, anywhere, just for the sake of being in another place. Possibly due to the fact that I had to decline a friend's invitation to go away to Brisbane this week. All it did was make me miss all my old friends there (I used to live in Brisbane during Uni a few years ago) more than ever, and wishing that I could be there right now. Or at least somewhere else exciting enough to justify my decision to not go and take my mind off things.
So, here's a question:
If you could revisit any place right now, where do you want to go?
(note the word REvisit!)

much love monday [list]
photo taken by my brother, of me, edited by me
things I'm loving:
♥ Getting a text from an old friend who I hadn't heard from in years and was just thinking about.
♥ Finding my old Michelle Branch
and Madonna
CD. Ah, memories in pop songs...
♥ Lists of the "places you've lived" at Yes and Yes
♥ My new favourite TV show: Parenthood
(although I still see Lauren Graham as Lorelai Gilmore... she even dated the English teacher? Hello Gilmore Girls
flashback)
♥ Spinach. Yeah, as in the vegetable. Not kidding.
So, tell me, what are you loving today?
To join in Much Love Monday, simply do a blog post that includes a picture of a heart and mention something you love. Then leave a link of your blog post in the Linky space below, and put it in the thing you love as the title. A link back would be much appreciated.

shadow shot sunday
Looking at these pictures, I did think of combining this week's Shadow Shot Sunday with tomorrow's Much Love Monday, but I eventually decided against being that lazy ;) In case it's not obvious, it's a paper heart which I put in between some dry tree branches. Not sure what I was trying to achieve really, but I guess I got some interesting shadow patterns "painted" on the paper heart.
Go to Hey Harriet to see more shadow shots today.
P.S. Anyone interested in sponsoring my blog? I have a few spots open at very reasonable rates. Great for small business owners looking to pick up traffic & sales, especially with Christmas being only 3 months away! Email me for full details :)

the owl and the robot
This is easily the most adorable wedding invitation I've ever seen. I mean, come on, it's a delightfully illustrated pop-up!

The bride and groom are friends of a friend. Each wedding guest were also given this wonderful little art book as a gift/souvenir. It's filled with sweet illustrations by the couple themselves and contributions from their friends (so much talent!!). Honestly, I was so impressed when my friend showed me this book, I wished I were friends with them too!
She loves owls. He loves robots. Hence, the owl and robot theme everywhere. CUTE.

Many thanks to embunmuda (her blog is in Indonesian) for allowing me to share these images here, and thank you Rizky for showing me the invitation and book in the first place :)

Kodachrome Film
Hello, I'm Diana of our.city.lights, and so happy Anna asked me to guest post. I know Anna is a film enthusiast, so I thought I'd share my love for my favorite film, Kodachrome.
In June 2009, Kodak stopped Kodachrome production. I've used slide film for my 35mm cameras but Kodachrome tops for quality over any. Slide film, when cross processed as 35mm, produces the most ridiculous bright colors. On my trip to Santa Cruz last year, I found a little photo shop, and I bought the last three rolls carried. I took the photos with a vintage Olympus Trip, and oh my, these came out beautifully loud, no?

I'm savoring what I have left, but it's such a sad production to close down, next to the Polaroid.
Kodachrome film is also used for filming, not just photographic film. Check out this charming vintage movie filmed in Disneyland.
Thanks so much for having me, Anna!

this week's finds

This week's thrifted finds from the opshops: a sweet basket for 50 cents, spotty tights in its package for $1.99, and a $4.99 foldable chair. Not bad at all.

*adding this to Her Library Adventures' Flea market Finds.
